Why are single-ingredient treats the best?

Why are single-ingredient treats the best?

We see dog biscuits, doggy dental chews & bags of treats with ingredients we cannot pronounce at our local pet store & online. It can all be very overwhelming. How do you know which dog treats are the best for your pup?

At All Tails Wag, we strongly believe in feeding single-ingredient treats and true limited-ingredient treats because they are free of fillers, grains, sugars, artificial ingredients, etc. It makes us feel good to know that we are feeding our own pups & providing treats in our boxes that are yummy & healthy!

Health Benefits – We love air-dried or freeze-dried treats as they maintain more of the original nutritional value and quality than those that are made into biscuits or mixed in with other ingredients. These grain-free treats are high in protein & low in calories, which make them an ideal treat for all dogs. We stay away from ingredients that are known to cause health issues.

Ideal for Allergies – We know it can be stressful when you have a dog with an allergy. You spend a lot of time & money trying to figure out what is causing your pup discomfort. A lot of treats sold in pet stores contain a long list of ingredients, which is not good for dogs with sensitive stomachs or allergies. Those ingredients can lead to yeast & bacterial growth. Our boxes are tailored for allergies- just let us know if you want us to avoid sending specific proteins & we will.

So Many Varieties – There are so many different options when it comes to providing your dog with a high quality treat. Even if your dog has a common chicken allergy, there are so many alternatives. Here are some we love:

  • Fish (such as salmon, cod, herring, sprat, etc) – a great source of omega 3 fatty acids, which helps keep your pup’s coat healthy & shiny
  • Liver (such as beef, pork, bison, lamb, etc)- a great source of iron, zinc & other essential nutrients that helps cleanse the body of toxins
  • Meat proteins (such as chicken, duck, beef, venison, elk, etc)
  • Other organs (such as lung, gullet, heart, kidney, gizzards, etc)
  • Bully sticks- help remove tartar, clean your dog’s teeth & provide mental stimulation
  • Chews (pig ears, cow ears, rabbit feet)- make sure these are kept natural & are not bleached

Quality Matters – Knowing that the treats we give our Best Furiends are actually delicious & good for them gives us peace of mind. We know that the key to a long, healthy life starts with nutrition. If you ever have any questions, don’t hesitate to reach out.
